I've been discussing with my friend Kayla for a couple of weeks now as to whether we were going to get an apartment or something together starting in June. For the most part, everything was out of our league, and we sort of gave up.
Well, two days after we gave up, her boyfriend Tim decides he wants to move- to buy his own home. We started discussing plans of where and who and what, and it's come down to this-
Tim is going to buy his home, and Kayla and I are going to be renting rooms from him to help pay for the mortgage.
I'll only be paying around $150-$200 in rent, with essentially a whole wing of the house, 500sq.f., to myself- this includes a bedroom, bathroom, I'll have free reign of the kitchen since I'm the only one who can cook, a parking space out front, and a communal living room and huge backyard.
Tim put a bid on the house today for $110000, and since it's a short sale/foreclosure home, the banks are probably going to try and sell it as quickly as possible.
I'm not allowed to move out until after graduation, but I figure that's fine anyways- I can start job hunting in Milton and paint the walls, and accumulate my furniture. I'd like to set up my room like a miniature apartment, with a micro-living room area. Haha.
The only bad part is: my parents are devastated. I was really excited this morning when I got the text from Kayla saying Tim had put an offer on the house, so I went in to tell my mom. She seemed alright, although kinda quiet. About an hour afterwards I left to go look for a new desk at waterfront mission, and on the way back home got a call from dad telling me that mom had called him crying and upset because she didn't want me to move. I guess it's just a reality check for her that I've grown up a lot, and I want to try and make it on my own. I know I'll probably move back in at home eventually, but it's time for me to try the real world.
